Caleb explaing how to golf!!

We gave Caleb a kids' golf set over the weekend. He had some training on how to putt. Watch now as he explains to Mommy how she should putt.

Next, Caleb putts himself! What a hoot!

May 30-31st

Sunday morning was spent building towers and playing in the sandbox!
Watching bluebirds who had a nest right next door!
Relaxing on the porch...... and playing inside! The many faces of Adam!
A beautiful rainbow after the storm came through... there were actually 2, but the second didn't show up well on camera.
This is just across the golf course.
A final look at the house before saying goodbye for this year! Deck -
front porch -
the view on the way up to the house -Emily and Eric - Caleb, Jeff and I The "rock slide" that closed I-40 for 6 months... just reopened in late April.

May 29th - my birthday!

Saturday, May 29th was my birthday. Caleb woke up early (5:30 am) in his "closet room" and climbed into bed with Jeff and me. Jeff and Adam start the day out early! We were all up early and off before it got too hot!
Our first jaunt was to the nearby restaurant featuring an "all you can eat breakfast" buffet! This served as breakfast AND lunch!
After feasting on eggs, grits, biscuits, gravy, fruit, bacon and sausage, hash browns, and coffee, we drove to nearby Cade's Cove... a beautiful location to see wildlife as well as tour some historic buildings. Our first stop is a small waterfall to grab a family photo.
While we were in the park driving the 11 mile loop, Caleb got to sit on Jeff's lap to see the wildlife better. He thought that was cool!
Arriving at the "village", we had a nice hour long walk/tour. Adam gets changed and into his stroller for the duration! (NOT)
Bennett's checking out the raised stream feeding the grist mill.
Bennett and Adam enjoying the shade!
Inside the grist mill, Caleb watches the corn being pulverized.
The gentleman at the mill shows Caleb where to put the whole corn kernels in to start the process.
A nice visitor took our picture so everyone got in the photo!
Bennett and Eric are practicing chin ups at the old barn.
Caleb peeking over the fences that divide the village property.
Caleb climbed up on an old cart!
Caleb's getting his toes wet in the stream. He didn't want to go in too far... must have been the squishy bottom!
One of the dozen deer we saw on our tour...
We brought Caleb's sandbox along... here he's playing on the deck. We also moved it inside to the screened porch when the weather was bad or hot! Worked out great!
Celebrating my birthday with barbecued ribs, corn on the cob, sauteed zucchini and a delicious chocolate caramel pie Emily made! Yummy! What a fun and wonderful day!

Townsend trip! Day 1!

Taking off for Townsend, TN! I met the Freemans at the bank and hopped in the car early Friday morning. Jeff and Bennett came after work... Adam is ready to go!
Emily and Caleb fill the back seat along with Adam. Thankfully, I got a front seat to myself!
After a stop for lunch and a 2 1/2 hour drive, we arrived at a beautiful mountain house right on the golf course. Beautiful views, fun porches and decks, and plenty of room! Here Caleb enjoys one of rocking chairs on the screened porch. We watched storms from here too - unless the wind picked up too much and rained in!
A view from the back deck.
I got to keep Adam and Caleb while Emily and Eric went out to dinner to celebrate their fifth anniversary! I first let Caleb play in the bath tub while Adam sat in his bouncy.
Caleb loved to play drums on the various dishes and cups with a wooden spoon. Kept him occupied!
Later, when Adam was getting fidgety and Caleb was clean, I got Caleb dressed, then had a special treat in reserve! "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" played on the DVD!
Meanwhile, I kept Adam entertained until he snoozed off. Mommy and Daddy had a nice meal and I had fun with two wee boys!

Mid-May excitement...

Caleb will be going to preschool this fall at Arden Pres. After visiting the classrooms, he gives Mommy a big hug! Adam is apparently studying the ground. I bought a RAV4 to get a car with lower miles - Caleb is riding with me to Chili's where we enjoyed lunch. He was fascinated with the "black car" but wanted to know where "Grandma's car" was. He enjoys looking out the sunroof.
Got to visit the grandchickens and harvest eggs. I was practicing for when Emily and Eric went to Beaufort! This hen did not want to leave the nest...Here's the whole crew - after Emily chased them into the run. The Freemans are getting some more chicks while they're in Beaufort.
Escorting Mom and Dad to the doctor once more! Dad got his boot off and is now using a "sandal" when he's out. Won't be long until he's free to walk unaided again!
