Monday's play time!

Monday turned out to be a rainy day - but we had some fun anyway! Had a ready-made pond in the back yard - perfect for learning to kayak for Caleb!
Adam enjoyed sitting in the "dry well" in the kayak...
It also was a HUGE puddle for splashing!
Posing with a palm tree...
I sat Adam on the couch for a pose! He's been such a sweet baby - fun to have on this trip! Glad we waited until he was 7 months old to come this year! He's almost crawling!
Eric is filling up the hot pot to make coffee. We kept refilling the 3 gallon container daily. It worked well for making tea, lemonade, and just when you needed some cold water!
We enjoyed a supper of steak and shrimp on the grill. Thankfully, the house covers the driveway - so Jeff and Eric had a dry place to grill. Here, Adam would really like to sink his teeth into the ribeye and taste that Chipotle! (Just a pose, of course!)
Look at that face!
After supper, the rain cleared and we got a short walk in. All the shoes left on the sand!
Papa and Adam in the wind!
The rest of us with the leftover clouds in the background.
Eric and Caleb heading up the beach!
The sunset...

Sunday fun!

Miss Chris got to play on the screened-in porch.
The water was not as warm early Sunday morning - Adam was not as excited to splash in the water or sit in the surf.
Caleb went out with Bennett and Papa in the kayaks. He loved it! (He's in the left kayak.)

Caleb is paddling a little on his own!

Angela and Mike came to visit, bringing a pot of fresh crabs to cook for lunch!
Adam entertaining us! He's sitting up so well now!

Angela took Miss Chris back to Beaufort for the week! Thanks Angela!

Fun at Edisto! the take off!

Caleb's enjoying gold fish while we made a stop to adjust the kayaks right outside of Hendersonville.
Adam's waiting patiently in his car seat!
Emily and Miss Chris (the kitty) are settled into the truck...
the troublesome kayaks.... one kept wanting to go left once we got to highway speed!
the bridge over to Edisto Island...
Eric, Jeff and Bennett walk Caleb down to the beach.
Emily, Adam and I followed.
A storm front is coming in - got to watch lighting across the sound.
Caleb and Adam took to the ocean like pelicans! The water temperatures are probably in the mid-80's.
Eric and Bennett with Caleb and Adam.
Papa and I enjoying the surf with the boys!
Family photos taken by a passing couple!
A final rinsing of sand and salt off the feet - then in to make some pastrami and corned beef grilled sandwiches with Swiss and green onion cheese! Yum!!

Labor Day weekend!

On Saturday, Ace Hardware in Hendersonville had their own way of celebrating the Apple Festival and Labor Day! They were giving hot dogs, pop corn, snow cones and drinks away for a $1 donation to the Red Cross. So Jeff and I met Emily and the boys there for an early lunch... and then Caleb got to play in the bouncy tent!
Climbing another blow-up thing - and sliding down over the tubes - head first!
The net at the bottom keeps the kids from tumbling on out (supposedly.)
Adam played in his stroller in the shade of the tent... many mouth movements! Later, Caleb got to toss a ball at a pyramid of cans! He knocked some over both times!
Saturday afternoon, we met Bennett and Stephanye and went hiking to some waterfalls in Brevard... this is seen from underneath the rock outcropping.
Bennett and Stephanye climbed up the side path to get a different perspective on the waterfall.
Another shot from underneath...
Another visitor took our picture!
Bennett and Stephanye strike a pose!
Several hundred yards away was another waterfall. Unnamed...
On Labor Day, we went to the Apple Festival in Hendersonville. This has been a tradition since Emily and Eric moved there. A Freeman family portrait.
Just look at the grin on Adam's face in this one! He ended up getting rather warm and was out of his cute outfit and just in a diaper by the time we left!
A law enforcement officer and another person from Mayberry showed up before the parade.
Doesn't he favor Barney???
A fun day was had by all! Then we went back to Emily and Eric's for spaghetti and salad. And to enjoy a little Food Channel programming.
